The Panakkad Thangal Sayed family is direct descendants of the #prophetmuhammadﷺ
They belong to the Ba ‘Alawi clan, a prominent Sayyid lineage of Yemeni-Hadhrami origin, came to Kerala in the 18th century. Thangal family is deeply revered in India for their religious, spiritual, social, political leadership, and leading the Indian Union Muslim League #IUML for many decades.
Sayed Muhammed Ali Shihab Thangal Sahab (1936–2009): The eldest and longtime president of the IUML Kerala State. Regarded as the role model for communal harmony in country.
Sayed Umerali Shihab Thangal Sahab
(1941–2008): He was served as the president of the SYS.
Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal Sahab (1947–2022): Succeeded his eldest brother Served as IUML State President from 2009 to 2022.
Sayyid Sadik Ali Shihab Thangal Sahab:
The current IUML Chairman and Kerala State President. Under his leadership IUML formed government in Two states in alliance.
Sayed Abbas Ali Shihab Thangal Sahab:
Current President of IUML Malappuram District.
