New Delhi: Yasmin Islam, National President of the Women India Movement, has alleged that government policies and regulatory failures are effectively creating a fuel shortage in the country, pushing ordinary people toward economic hardship and hunger. She stated that the growing difficulty in accessing cooking gas and other essential fuels is directly affecting the daily lives of ordinary citizens and reflects serious shortcomings in governance and regulation rather than an unavoidable crisis.
Referring to the ongoing Israel–Iran conflict, Yasmin Islam said : black-marketing of cooking gas and other fuels is taking place widely. Government claims such as “India’s energy security is strong” and “a significant portion of the country’s gas requirement is produced domestically” are completely contrary to the present reality of rising prices and shortage of availability. These statements clearly appear to be hollow claims.
This amounts to an injustice to the people, and the government must immediately establish a transparent, people-oriented fuel distribution system that protects public interest. Strict action must also be taken against black-marketing, National President Yasmin Islam urged in a press release.
