- ‘Mangaluru Lit Fest ‘to take culture and nobility of our soil to the people
7th edition of Mangalore Lit Fest to be held on January 11, 12
Mangaluru: Literature can shed new light on society and make us think differently. Sunil Kulkarni, Trustee, Bharat Foundation, said, “Mangaluru Lit Fest, which will be held on January 11 and 12, aims to take the literature, culture, nobility of our soil to the youth.”
He was speaking after inaugurating an inter-college quiz and book review competition organised as part of the Mangalore Lit Fest by Bharat Foundation, in association with SVP Institute of Kannada Studies of Mangalore University and University College, here at Ravindra Kalabhavana. It is a platform for listening to resource persons from across the country and interacting with them. This is not only an event, but an experience, he said.
In his special lecture, Vidhwan Dr. Raghavendra Rao said that literature has shown the value of humanity to the world. He cited examples of children’s literature, especially the Panchatantra stories. Professor V.B. Kulamarva said that the best invention of man is the language that dispels the inner world. We need to preserve our language.
The principal of the college Prof. Ganapathi Gowda presided over the function. He congratulated the team of Mangalore Lit Fest for making an effort to critique and create interest in literature.
Retired Kannada professor Dr. K.S. Meenakshi Ramachandra Rao was present. Lathesh Santha mastered the programme and Kajal proposed the vote of thanks. Vidhushi Anasuya Pathak and her ensemble performed a musical program.
Result
A total of 21 teams participated in the book review competition. Akshaya Naveen N of Vivekananda B.Ed College coming first, Priya S of Vivekananda Law College coming second, and Shraddha from B.B. Hegde First Grade College coming third. 24 teams participated in the quiz competition, and the results will be announced on November 22. The 6 teams selected in the quiz will participate in the final round of the competition at the Mangalore Lit Fest stage, the organizers said.
