The Intent of “One Nation, One Election’ proposal of the Centre is highly suspecting and tactics of sabotaging the upcoming LS election
Newdelhi: (04-09-2023) Formation of a High-Level Committee (HLC) by the Union BJP Government to examine and to make recommendations for simultaneous election to Lok Sabha, Assemblies, Municipalities and Panchayath is highly suspecting and also an effort to disrupt the upcoming Lok Sabha Election for its selfish favor. The proposal of ‘One Nation, One Election’ theory in a hurried and mischievous manner is portraying the intent of the BJP as it is very much afraid of the trailing result in the coming Lok Sabha election.
India, as country of diversity, has been following the federal system since independence. The three-tier governing hierarchy, i.e. local bodies – state governments – union government, ensures federalism, and election to these bodies depending on their term in office is the practice that the country follows. Currently, the tenure of the state governments in the country varies as the assembly and local body election falls on diverse period. If at all this system would be changed, then it requires continuous discussions on its virtues and demerits, in-depth studies, public and legal opinions, practical and logistical designs and feasibility, etc which will take a long period involving all.
However, the BJP is trying to impose this theory without pursuing any conventional procedures and intend to propose the same in the parliament just before six months of upcoming Lok Sabha election which is highly suspecting and impracticable. One thing is clear that the BJP is extremely scared of losing 2024 Lok Sabha election, because of its pitiable and series of failures in governance, failures in safeguarding nations border, tragical failures in ensuring the protections to the people and critically failed in strengthening the bonding between people and communities. The BJP is also too scared of the unification of opposition parties in connection with Lok Sabha election and foresees its despicable defeat in the election. Hence, the BJP government is hurriedly proposing and trying to impose simultaneous election in the name of ‘One Nation, One Election’.
Social Democratic Party of India strongly object the intention of the BJP for such a mischievous move and SDPI asserts that BJP is harming the parliamentary and federal system of the country and insulting the values of Indian constitution.
