ICC Global Award for “100% Female cricket initiative of the year” to Bahrain Cricket Federation

Mr Mohammad Mansoor received top honour from ICC for 100% Female Cricket initiative 2021 Mohammad Mansoor, Chairman of Advisory Board , Bahrain Cricket Federation receiving the Award from Greg Barclay, Chairman, ICC along with Hatim Dadabai, BCF President and Gurumurthy Palani, the Chief Development Officer for their women empowerment initiatives.

Bahrain July 28: Chairman of the Bahrain Cricket Federation’s  Advisory board, it fills me with immense pride that our women empowerment initiative was globally recognised at the ICC Annual Conference where we were awarded the ICC Female Initiative award.  This recognition is very special as it comes within a span of a year of the restructure of the BCF and it’s enthusiastic new board’s well crafted strategies. Our Women empowerment strategy had a big impact in Bahrain – the biggest one being the formation of the National Women’s Cricket team. A team that went on to break several world records in its first tour abroad.  The initiative has also economically empowered women by creating job opportunities for women in the field of umpiring, coaching, scoring, and support staff. We have trained FIVE women coaches and one women umpire thus far.  However, some of the most heart-warming moments were seeing the rise in self-confidence of the women – especially those from lower-income groups like who find a sense of pride and purpose as they play this wonderful game without any financial burden.

None of this would have been possible without the vision of His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The robust support of Mohammad Shahid has been source of great strength for us and we cannot thank him enough.  I would also like to congratulate BCF board members, members of the advisory council, the support staff – the coaches, manager etc.  And finally, this award truly belongs to the wonderful women whose efforts have made this award possible – Well done Team Bahrain!
