Mangaluru MLA UT Khader urged the government to be prepared to prevent the possibilities of Covid-19 spread, instead of creating panic about the Omicron variant  of the virus.He said the government should take necessary precautions at all stages to prevent the entry of the new variant. “Giving priority to people’s lives is important. Do not create confusion among people. Intensify drives to achieve 100% vaccination. The government also should think of allowing the third dose in India. Many countries have commenced booster dose drives, but we have not started yet,” he said.

Covid warriors, who work in the frontline healthcare sector should be given the third dose. Similarly, the government also should take a decision on commencing vaccination drives for children aged below 18,” he said.

On oxygen plants set up in government hospitals in the state, the MLA said most of the units have no staff for maintenance. “The government has spent an average of Rs 80 lakh each for oxygen plants. If there are no staff for maintenance, those units will remain unused,” he said and demanded that staff be appointed immediately.On mobile applications introduced for ASHA workers and lab technicians in the state, Khader said currently they have been using it in their mobile phones  Hence, all ASHA workers and lab technicians should be provided with tabs to make it easy for them to upload data instantly.
