Tripura  is known for its peace, harmony and diverse
cultures was turned recently barbarically into a blood bath.
The violence broke out after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an affiliate
of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the BJP’s ideological fountainhead,
took out a rally against the vandalization of Hindu temples in Bangladesh,
the rally was ostensibly a protest against communal violence in
Bangladesh, the scenes witnessed in the northeastern state were starkly
reminiscent of the violence itself.
Section 144 of the code of criminal procedure (CrPC), which prohibits the
congregation of more than five people, was also clamped to bring the
situation under control. Houses and shops, reportedly owned by members
of the minority community, were also ransacked. These targeted attacks
on mosques and Muslim habitations are highly condemning. Carrying
swords, raising anti-Muslim slogans, targeting and vandalising shops,
invading homes, creating domestic terrorism and sexual assaults are all a
part of their protest plan.
It is hard time to stop watching the violence and confront and put an end
to this. In a country like ours, none has the freedom to raise their voice or
express their thoughts. The pathetic situation of a democratic nation likes

ours has reached to such an extend that the voices of peaceful and
legitimate protests have been hijacked by violent radical elements
A republican government’s right and duty to their citizens is to ensure law
and order in the country. And hence National Women’s Front demands fair
investigation, identify the criminal organizers and instigators and penalise
the accused. We also demand strict enquiry on VHP and other similar
groups in connection with the rioting. We also request compensation to
be made to the families of the victims and for the medical expenses. We
demand for equal damages to be paid for the destruction of Mosques,
shops and homes.
No person can resort to violence in the name of religion; Awakening the
people and protesting against it, is in the hands of humanity and the
country and is also need of the hour. Because Silence breads on Violence.
National Women’s Front stands in solidarity, and extends its support to the
distressed families. Raising their concern to the community out loud, it
calls on to raise their voices together against this intolerance.
